Where you are short, and by how much.
The gap between the physicians practicing in your market and the demand your population actually generates, by specialty.
Know how many physicians and advanced practice providers you need, in which specialties, in which communities, and be able to defend it.
We inventory every physician practicing in your market and project the care your population will require. The gap between those two numbers is where the work starts. We establish how many patients each of your providers actually manages, how much capacity your existing base could carry, which physicians are approaching retirement, and how long patients wait to get in. Then we build the recruitment plan with your executives, in priority order.

what a plan answers
The gap between the physicians practicing in your market and the demand your population actually generates, by specialty.
Appointment availability and wait times, measured by calling your practices the way a patient would. A specialty can look adequately staffed and still be closed to new patients.
The providers required to capture market share you do not hold today. A growth target is only a target until the physicians behind it are quantified.
Recommendations sequenced by impact, not by which service line asked loudest.
HOW WE DO IT
ProviderSync is a national inventory of every practicing office-based physician in the United States, plus office-based advanced practice providers in primary care. It starts with national CMS data and extends through AI-assisted web research. Where a record is unclear, our Research Associates call the practice. The inventory is perfected market by market as the work requires it, so the market you ask about is the one that has just been verified.
DemandHorizon projects what a population will require, built on actuarial utilization data: commercial rates drawn from 550 million member months, Medicare rates from CMS. It produces 540 age- and gender-specific rates across 45 office-based specialties, because two neighboring ZIP codes with different age profiles need different physicians. 3Dhealth has been refining it since 2005 and improves it every year, as new pharmaceuticals and care pathways shift volume between specialties.
what we deliver
The firm’s core service. Prioritized three-year recruitment recommendations, specialty by specialty, built on the physicians practicing in your market, the demand your population generates, the capacity sitting in your existing base, the retirements ahead of you, and what patients encounter when they call. Filtered against your own growth plans and service line priorities.
Independent documentation that a physician is needed in your community, for hospitals financially assisting in the recruitment of an independent physician.
How long a new patient actually waits for an appointment with your physicians, by specialty and location. Where you want it, we call competing practices in the market as well.
who we serve
The method is the same. The answer never is.
The same analysis in every service area, so physician need is comparable across the footprint and the documentation is consistent.
The provider requirements behind your growth plans, and the retirements that could undo them.
How much of your community’s care stays local, which specialties send it elsewhere, and what it would take to bring it back.
Which specialties belong locally, which ones patients will drive for, and the primary care base underneath both.
A portfolio view of the entire faculty and medical staff, rather than a plan assembled department by department.
How large a primary care base your subspecialists require, and which additional subspecialties your referral volume can support.
Which markets can support your growth, and which specialties they need, down to the ZIP code.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT
Provider Development Planning is not a practice area here. It is the whole firm, and it has been since 2002.
ProviderSync and DemandHorizon exist because the data this work requires did not exist in a form worth using. Both are maintained continuously rather than purchased and left to age.
Including when it says the specialist you were considering is not the right next hire. That conversation is harder, and it is the reason clients come back.
research
3Dhealth’s national study of physician supply against physician demand, published every year. It measures the surplus or deficit by specialty, by state, and across urban, suburban, and rural markets. The findings are open to everyone.
platform
A Provider Development Plan should not expire the day it is presented. 3Dperspectives puts your supply, demand, access, succession, and growth scenarios into a dashboard your team can return to when a physician retires, when a market shifts, or when the Board asks a new question.
In healthcare, we talk constantly about access, and yet, few organizations can clearly define it.
Today’s healthcare consumers are not simply asking whether they can get in. They are asking how fast.
We’re excited to share a major milestone at 3Dhealth: the upcoming launch of 3Dperspectives.
Tell us the market you are trying to plan for. We will walk you through what a Provider Development Plan would cover, what it would take, and what you would have at the end of 16 weeks.
